Current Wash Days
- Pre-Shampoo (prepoo) overnight with Wild Growth Hair Oil and a mixture of oils on my hair. When I prepoo I have been heating the oils in the microwave, applying to my head then covering with a processing cap. Afterwards, I wrap my satin scarf around the cap.
- Shampoo with KeraCare Moisturizing Detangling Shampoo
- Condition with L'Oreal Paris Smoothing Conditioner
- Towel dry my hair and apply my deep conditioner (I alternate between Nexxus Humectres and Dove Intense Moisture Recovery..both work great in my opinion)
- I sit under a hooded dry for 10-30 min depending on time
- rinse out conditioner and apply Paul Mitchell The Detangler and rinse
- I towel dry my hair to about 80% dry and apply leave ins (PM The Conditioner, and PM Super Skinny Serum)
- Once my leave ins are applied I detangle my hair very gently and let my hair air dry
- Side note-->if my edges are looking rough I will tie my satin scarf around them to tame them.
- Lightly apply oil/moisturizer and style. If I plan on using heat I apply a heat protectant as well
I have roller sets but have never used them because it just seems like an IMMENSE amount of work. If anyone knows of any shortcuts or tips/tricks to give me I'd like to try it out. Luckily my hair tends to dry pretty straight so air-drying is not a problem but it doesn't give me that straight sleek feel that I think roller sets would give.
During the Week
- During the week I TRY to reduce manipulation by not coming/brushing my hair but I really hate doing that so when I do use my comb/brush I am very gentle and try not to overdo it.
- Due to years of not taking care of my hair my locks have become thin and a bit stringy..so moisturizing/sealing daily is just out of the picture for me (for now). I use coconut oil every other day and African Pride Moisturizing Lotion. So far these are OK but I still haven't found the perfect products to use on my hair just yet.
- Wear Protective Styles 3-4x a week (mostly out of laziness I won't lie)
I would like to incorporate some co-washing into my routine but have no idea how to work that into a routine. Should I deep condition as well? Still trying to work on that one.
*What does your hair routine look like?
*Is there anything that you would add that you've found helpful?
